CPS Redistricting - As you should all know by now, ACPS is currently in the process of redistricting the entire school system. Nearly all ACPS elementary schools are over capacity. Tucker is over-enrolled by nearly 200 students this year and as many of you are aware a kindergarten lottery was conducted at Tucker prior to the start of this school year and our science lab was re-purposed for use as a kindergarten classroom also for this school year. For information on redistricting as well as signing up for email updates on redistricting, please visit:

ACPS Review Committee - Tucker's 2 parent volunteer review committee representatives are Robert Fobian and Bryan Bender. Robert can be reached and Bryan can be reached at: Please feel free to contact them at any time with redistricting related questions and concerns.

Three working drafts of the ACPS redistricting maps were created and released for review by the committee and the public. For the current ACPS school zone attendance map, please visit: To view the three proposed ACPS school attendance maps, please visit (paying special attention to pages 5-7):

Urgent Call to Tucker Parents for Formation of the Tucker Redistricting Sub-Committee - Tucker Elementary's modified calendar has always made our school a special and different place for elementary learning in the ACPS system. With the redistricting process, the Tucker families have some special considerations. Some of these concerns are being met and some of them are not.

Earlier this year and reiterated again by Mr. Paschal in his newsletter sent home in backpacks dated September 22nd, the Tucker community learned that Tucker has been granted "program" status as a result of revisions made to ACPS school board policy last May. Once school capacity issues are addressed through redistricting, any ACPS family can request a "programmatic transfer" to attend Tucker in the same way that families have requested transfers into other specialized programs in the ACPS system. Stay tuned for more information regarding the "programmatic transfer" process but, in the meantime...

The Tucker PTA is pleased to report we are forming a redistricting sub-committee lead by Al Luna, PTA president who will be joined by Robert Fobian and Bryan Bender. This sub-committee is being formed to help communicate Tucker's specific redistricting concerns and needs back to the ACPS redistricting review committee as well as the ACPS leadership and the ACPS school board. This sub-committee welcomes support from any and all interested Tucker parents however, it is vital that any Tucker parents living in the block formed by South Reynolds Street, South Pickett Street, South Van Dorn Street and Duke Street get involved. We are seeking residents from these communities to serve on this important sub-committee. Please reply back if you are able and willing to serve on this sub-committee.
